Questions
About the regimes
Which regime applies if I don’t choose?
The new regime is the default. You can choose the old regime instead when you file; salaried taxpayers can make that choice every year.
Why does a ₹12.75 lakh salary pay no tax under the new regime?
A rebate cancels the tax for resident individuals whose taxable income is up to ₹12 lakh. After the ₹75,000 standard deduction, a salary of up to ₹12.75 lakh stays within that, if it is your only income. The rebate does not cover income taxed at special rates, such as capital gains.
What does this calculator leave out?
Surcharge on income above ₹50 lakh, income taxed at special rates such as capital gains, and some deductions specific to senior citizens. For those, or for business income, a CA should work it out.
Is what I type stored anywhere?
No. The calculation runs in your browser, and nothing you enter is sent to us.
Let a CA file it the right way.
A short call with a CA, a written quote, and a calendar of everything that is due.
